The 20th Japan International MANGA Award 2026, a distinguished, fully financed competition for manga and comic drawing enthusiasts, is currently accepting applications. This award, which was established in 2007 by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aims to foster international understanding of Japanese manga via imaginative narrative. It honors gifted manga artists from all across the world who have significantly advanced manga culture on a global scale.
A Gold Award for the finest manga work, three Silver Awards for outstanding entries, and about eleven Bronze Awards for additional exceptional contributions are among the awards offered by the competition. Certificates, trophies, and formal acknowledgment are awarded to winners, and promising works with great promise may also get a special encouragement award.
The Gold and Silver Award winners’ fully financed trip to Tokyo is one of the program’s highlights. A seven-day tour is extended to the chosen candidates so they can participate in cultural exchange events and meet publishers, industry experts, and professional manga artists, as well as attend the award ceremony.
In addition to gaining international acclaim, this opportunity gives artists the chance to have a close-up look at the manga industry, see Japanese culture, and form important international relationships.
