Fulbright Program Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program 2026 in USA | Fully Funded

The 2026 Fulbright Program Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program is currently accepting applications. For chosen applicants, living expenses, travel expenses, and subsistence allowances are covered by this fully supported teaching assistantship.

The program is a component of the larger Fulbright project and is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State. It encourages cross-cultural interaction and supports foreign language instruction in American universities.

Through the FLTA Program, teachers from more than 50 nations can teach more than 30 languages while developing their professional abilities and getting firsthand experience with American academia and society. Additionally, it fosters better understanding between the US and other participating nations.

Eligibility Criteria :

  • At the time of application, candidates must be citizens of the country of nomination.
  • must have a strong academic record and the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree; a master’s degree is recommended.
  • Prior teaching experience is preferred, however early-career English teachers, trainee teachers, or similar educators are eligible.
  • They must be highly motivated to teach their native tongue and culture in the US.
  • English proficiency and valid TOEFL PBT 550, TOEFL iBT 79–80, or IELTS 6.0 scores are required.
  • must be able to collaborate with teachers, staff, and students in addition to working independently.
  • Both rural and urban living must be comfortable.
  • must exhibit reliability, professionalism, maturity, and integrity.
  • No U.S. citizenship is required; dual citizens are ineligible.

The United States of America is the host nation.
